As a student and aspiring writer living in Manchester, I thought the best way to get started was to begin blogging.

The name and idea for this blog came about as a result of having Ian Dury & The Blockheads’ “Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3)” stuck in my head for a ridiculous amount of time. This is what I did with it.

Reasons To Be Cheerful is news stories that don’t make it to the front page, but perhaps should, random acts of kindness and/or madness, alternative music, art, weird and wonderful websites and people and places that make the world a slightly more interesting, crazier and altogether cheerier place to be…
